Dead Wood Falls

Today I stayed in bed and watched dvd's on my lap top. I realised that it was the first time in months that I'd actually taken the day off to 'do nothing'. The last couple of months have been intense. Putting a record out takes a lot of work, particularly when you are like me and want to oversee everything! Anyway I realised that we have achieved a lot:

A beautiful new site that feels like home to visit.
A record we are proud of that looks good to feel and touch (we gave ourselves the luxury of digipaks).
Launches in Melbourne and Sydney with amazing guest supports.
And today our booker Dave came through with the news that our national tour in June looks ready to lock in.

Over the last couple of months I have come to realise that so much is out of your control. All you can do is put love into your work and trust that other people will recieve it. The more I let go of 'how the record was going to be received' and instead just did the 'next right thing' - whether that was lining up a rehearsal, designing posters or talking to our web designer - the better everything seemed to travel!

I guess we all get attached to the things we love. Your first album is like your first kid, releasing it is like sending it off to school for the first day. You hope no-one will bash it up and that it will have friends to sit with at play lunch.

So the title 'Dead Wood Falls' feels apt for how I am feeling today. I felt a surge of relief when I realised that the record was out in the world - that I could let it go at last...

I CAN'T WAIT TO GET OUT AND PLAY LIVE SHOWS AGAIN!!! I think live is my favourite part and our band is a lot of fun to be in. I can guarantee that after a long hiatus away from the live scene we are itching to hit the stage and share this album with YOU.

See you at show in your town soon.

Big Love
Jen
